By on October 30, 2011

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has refused to be drawn on speculation linking Liverpool with captain Fabricio Coloccini.

Reports recently have linked Liverpool with Coloccini, who has been instrumental in Newcastle’s impressive start to the season, resulting in the Magpies boasting the best defensive record in the league.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer but the Magpies boss is hopeful he will accept the contract offer on the table. Toon chief Pardew said:

“Liverpool like looking at our players, don’t they? But I don’t want to add any more to that.

“He’s been outstanding for us as a captain and a player and we’re in negotiations with him on a new contract.”
