Ferguson Told To Sign Luka Modric In January

The influential tabloid Manchester Evening News believes Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson should sign Tottenham star Luka Modric.

The influential tabloid ‘Manchester Evening News’ believes Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson should sign Tottenham star Luka Modric.

The newspaper feels the playmaker has the creative guile that Ferguson’s midfield lacks since Scholes’ retirement and claims the signing of Modric should be Ferguson’s priority this January:

“Sir Alex Ferguson needs to make only one New Year’s resolution for 2012 – sign Luka Modric.

“The Manchester United manager spent the summer months trying and failing to land a replacement for Paul Scholes. Now he has four weeks in January to secure the midfield playmaker he so desperately requires.

“And few, if any, fit the bill better than Modric. Modric is arguably the closest fit there is to Scholes in the Premier League right now.

“Blessed with a wonderful, vision and range of passing, it is understandable why Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas was so determined to sign him in the summer.”

Chelsea had a £40million bid for the Croatian turned down on transfer deadline day while United were also linked with a move earlier in the summer, although no firm offer was submitted by the Reds.

What makes them think Modric is for sale? Is it the turning down 40 million from Chelsea and saying he’s not for sale not a hint?

No matter how hard the Spurs fans continue to believe Modric is not available for a transfer or he will not leave the clubs, the truth is he will leave when the time comes. The Spurs are not in the champions league at the moment, and it appears they won’t get there anytime soon.

We could play him for another two and a half years, and STILL get £40m for him on his current contract.

That’s before taking the rise of inflation into consideration.

So journalists, and I use that term as loosely as possible, are now reporting on what other ‘journalists’ think a club ought to do?

Won’t be clicking on here again.

Maybe there will come a time when we have to let Modric go, but when we do it will be to a top European team. We are competing with the top teams in this country now so we won’t be improving their teams at our expense. The only top club that can possibly afford our players is Man City, because they can pay silly money.

I’m willing to bet ‘manc’ isn’t one and has probably never been to england, let alone the swamps of trafford.

“Influential Manchester Evening News” pardon me but you must be having a laugh surely. Manure cannot afford Modric and in any case, Daniel Levy will not sell him to the competition anyway. Cheatski got a flea in their ear and so will the Mancs full stop.

How the fuck do you work that out u moron? where 4th at the minute with a game in hand. there looks no sign of us losing a game. weve played rubbish last two games and still won. weve only got chelsea to play out of the top 6. go back into hibernation you clueless prick

Chelsea got a flea in thier ear becuase it was dedline day!!! Thats it. If Chelsea had bid £40m at the beginning of the window Modric would have gone.

As for the next window, I cant see it. But………. Come the summer, an early bid of £35-£45m and I think he will leave, but possibly not for Chelsea depending on how well other signings are doing!
