CONFIRMED: Conti – “Chelsea Offered €70m For Him”

By on November 15, 2011

AS Roma director Bruno Conti has revealed that the club once turned down a enormous offer from Chelsea for star midfielder Daniele De Rossi.

Conti admitted that the Blues had submitted a massive bid of around €70million (£60m) for the Italian international whilst also stating that the 28-year old is not about to leave the Stadio Olimpico.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid have all been credited with a move for the midfielder in the past but according to Conti it was Chelsea that pushed hardest to secure the tenacious midfielder.

“De Rossi will stay at Roma, no doubt about it,” Conti told Radio Mana Mana.

“I would like to remind people of the following: Chelsea offered €70m for him, a lot of money, but [then president] Rosella Sensi turned it down.”
