TRANSFER NEWS: Agent Of €30m Ace Speaks Out On Chelsea Link

By on November 19, 2011

Chelsea have been put on alert after the agent of Alvaro Pereira has hinted at a move away from Porto.

The Blues tried to sign the full-back in the summer but failed to agree a fee, despite offering a reported £15m for his services. Recent reports have suggested Chelsea are ready to reignite their interest in the Uruguayan international but may once again struggle to meet Porto’s valuation of the player.

Pereira recently renewed his contract that includes a €30 million buy-out clause and Chelsea will have to bid close to that figure if they are to persuade the Portuguese into selling one of their prized assets. However, the 25-year-old’s agent, Alejandro Savich, told Maisfutebol that he’s aware of Chelsea’s interest and confirmed that a clause is in place, whilst also suggesting they wait to see how things unfold with the January transfer window only weeks away:

“I have read the news about Chelsea’s interest, but I am not going to say anything about it at the moment,” Alejandro Savich told Maisfutebol.

“Alvaro Pereira recently renewed his contract until 2016, so he has a contract with Porto, but there is a release clause.

“We are going to have to wait a little bit, we will see what could happen in the future.”
