[VIDEO] Footage Of Alleged Racist Abuse Towards Adeyemi At Anfield

Liverpool and police are to investigate alleged racist abuse hurled at Oldham youngster Tom Adeyemi in the closing stages of the Reds 5-1 FA Cup win last night.

Liverpool Football Club and local police authorities are to investigate alleged racist abuse hurled at Oldham youngster Tom Adeyemi in the closing stages of the Reds 5-1 FA Cup win last night. The 19-year-old was visibly angry and upset after receiving reported racists abuse from Liverpool fans in the Kop. It must be stressed that these are in-confirmed reports but hopefully the club and police will be able to shed more light on the situation after they conduct their enquiries. Watch footage of the incident here:

I’m not saying what happened here isn’t wrong, but this kind of thing happens in football grounds all over the country, and its down to the player to react in a professional manner and just ignore it

Why bob? have you ever been to a game before, it happens all over the place. Its never the whole crowd and normally just down to a couple of idiots but still it happens. Also there are plenty of people who just say stupid shit to get the players riled up so they preform worse. As you can see how the ref try to tell him to just play on, it really is down to the players reactions. It can’t be great to play under those circumstances, but I’ve had racist things said against me too and you just got to get past it and understand that those people are just stupid

you are an idiot my friend, Liam is 100% right. and as Max said before me its never the whole crowed just a couple of idiots that should be banned for life from football games

If this sort of thing happens up and down your country and you are not outraged than you simply are a bigot..And just as racist as Suarez…

Your right any racist comments from the crowd are unacceptable from crowds and if someone has done this they should be banned from attending games for life. I would like to correct you on Luis Suarez tho, he is not a racist he has made an error. Both Patrice evra and the FA stated they do not perceive him to be a racist.

      January 8, 2012 at 9:56 pm

…but the FA and Evra agreed Suarez was not racist…..

As for the fan, if he did racially abuse the guy, charge him and ban him

Are we turning into a nation of whingers or what?
Since when does some stranger shouting any type of abuse at you mean you have to get upset, break down and cry.
I’m not saying it’s right that people shout abuse but it’s ridiculous that it is now a major news story.
What do I tell my young son when he comes home from school saying someone on the playground called him names? Do I inform the media, call the police or organise a vigilante attack?
We are turning into a nation of whingers, get a grip people!

How does the video above prove that a racial
Comment was made its pathetic to suggest
That footage proves that, was at the game and
Yes the Oldham player was in a rage but it’s
    Just allegations at the moment,merseyside
Police have also confirmed no arrests where
Due to the above incident. When will this all stop.
People accusing other people it’s a little boring now. Dianne Abbotts MP sacked for her comment No, why not all the hounding of her then?

What a sensitive new age guy like Evra…

I have been racially abused for many times but have never cried like him.

Youth these days are getting soft.

Its shocking that someone in the Kop with everything going on decided that this was the ideal time to shout something racist to another player. If identified, that person should be banned for life. However, I agree with others that fan abuse has been part and parcel of stadium throughout the country. This kid is only 19 and probably never experienced anything like that before and the reason for his reaction. Home and Away fans alike abuse players every week, but the more experience players just get on with it. Its shameful in every sense of the word, but lets not make this out be something that only happens at Liverpool and because of the Saurez situation. So all those fans that are on their high horse now.. really need to look around before you start preaching!!!

I’ve said this a couple of times. Form a team of sensitive ‘colored’ players, then when you are losing claim that there are racism abuse. You either get the opposition in trouble or banned or fined or forfeit the game. That’s the future of football. All you need is to get some fake fans to utter racism abuse and stage a drama, you are there. LOL.

Any fan who racially abused the player should be banned from Anfield for life. Behaviour like that is inflammatory, so it also warrants police action.

That said, I think the player would have reacted differently prior to the Evra/Suarez scandal. He’s jumping on the bandwagon and he might just have got his team to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

    You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Aedeyemi is a liar. Nothing racist said at all. I was 10 feet away from the incident. The truth will come out.

Firstly, if someone abused the Oldham lad they should be thrown out. I don’t think any of us have a problem with that. But what we saw tonight is just the beginning of a new era. I hate to say it but the can of worms has truly been opened. History will prove that the FA truly botched the Suarez/Evra case by being uneven, inequitable, preferential, and naive. All this could have been diffused by a clean handling of the case where both players were admonished equally with offsetting bans. The puritanical media and it’s reductive PC ethos has also made things a lot worse. You just can’t arbitrarily scapegoat one player, one team, and act like racism only exists at Anfield. You can’t conduct cases based on hearsay, probability, and allegation. You can’t politically blackmail a club, player, manager through media defamation and discrimination. All these things cause backlash, tribalism, entrenchment, and racial profiling. When Liverpool capitulated to the pressure, and certainly after Suarez submitted an apology, the FA should have made a statement that the matter was closed, that Evra’s slurs would be dealt with, and that any discrimination against Suarez (who by their own definition is not a racist) will not be tolerated. Their lack of leadership and moral equity has just exacerbated racial tensions around the game. The media should have been satisfied with its pound of flesh, it’s immigrant scapegoat, and stopped beying for more blood. Former players and Alex Ferguson should have just kept quiet and let the situation diffuse instead of stoking the flames further. We now have a league where any player can be accused, convicted, and defamed just by allegation – and where teams can start using the race card to gain competitive advantage like diving. Every team in the country has a minority of idiot bigots for fans and all it takes is one moron to incite a fresh controversy.

23 Racial abuse arrests made in the Premier League last year. NONE at LFC Any news coverage on the 23 incidents (eg the 2 at Man Utd for example)?

    January 7, 2012 at 8:50 pm

it was manc fans from oldham, stirring up trouble

  15. LIS

    January 7, 2012 at 8:51 pm

A small number at the front of the kop were chanting ‘You Manc Bstard’ (after a song ‘There is only one lying bstard’ was sung very loudly about Evra).
I think Adeyemi has got the wrong end of the stick and the media have jumped on the bandwagon. Maybe he tought they were shouting ‘you black bstard’?
Why would somebody attack Adeyemi in such a way when Liverpool were cruisng to victory?
Doesn’t add up and just wouldn’t happen at Anfield.
There is a steward in an orange coat 3 feet away (who clearly heard nothing racist) from Adeyemi as he approaches the Kop and other two only 10 feet away yet no of them moved and nobody was thrown out / arrested??? – watch the video!
The police will get to the bottom of it…guarntee no charges.
p.s. Why is he crying anyway – abuse from the crowd is part of the game(which was not even targetted at him in this case) and I have seen at lot worse!

I agree with TKP The FA have been so inept in the way they handled the whole situation it’s untrue. The press have continued to stoke the fires to sell their worthless rags. We need to move on and learn from the experience.

Wanted to make some kind of constructive statement, then thought why bother. In a couple of weeks when everything is sweeped under the carpet, normal service will be resummed as always. I may sound cynical but nothing is really going to change…
