Tottenham are preparing a summer move for Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims Spurs could face competition from Chelsea and QPR for the stopper, who Newcastle value at £15m, and that the North Londoners are willing to wait until the summer to make their move for the 23-year-old.

Krul has been in superb form this year for the Geordies, managing to keep eight clean sheets so far this term. This has helped guide Newcastle to sixth place in the league and within touching distance of fourth placed Chelsea.

Harry Redknapp now has a reliable number 1 between the sticks in Brad Freidel, but at 40-years-of-age this could be the keepers last season in top flight football, leaving Spurs in need of a long-term replacement.

Krul and Swansea’s Michel Vorm have been the two stand-out goalkeepers this season and if Redknapp and Levy could manage to secure either one it would be a great move for Tottenham. Freidel has also been excellent, but his career is coming to an end and Spurs must plan now to find his replacement and this fella would be a great addition at White Hart Lane.

He has signed a deal until 2016 or something. Newcastle are challenging, although Spurs,Arsenal,Chelsea,Liverpool fans wouldnt admit it. Unless newcastle brought in a replacement of the same quality they would not sell him

Don’t think Spurs are big enough for Tim. He will stay with us for a good few years and go to a big club like Barcelona

He’s been at Newcastle since he was 17, is first choice and loves the club. If we get a ridiculous offer then fair enough but we have no incentive to sell and he has no reason to leave

On ya bike Harry ! Why is it when a player from a team below spurs in the league is playing well – spurs get linked with that player. Something should be done about that club & the muppet in charge – they are continually trying to unsettle players ! Krul & Ba etc.

The spiv always unsettles players by using his “press fan club” to do his dirty work. Sooner he is locked up for tax evasion the better.

To be fair to Harry it’s usually him being asked the question that brings out all the opinions. And if these clubs are so secure in keeping their players then why should they care?!? Spurs did the same with Modric and just said over and over again that he’s not for sale and guess what, he’s still at Spurs!!!

    @ Brian
Do you think that over the years, every time Spurs have had a good player, teams above us haven’t been linked. ie Carrick/Berbatov/Sheringham all whent to United.
If a team is doing well, which at the moment we are, they are obviously going to move for players who are doing well at other clubs below them as it is unrealistic of teams to expect to nick players from teams in similar positions!!
Don’t get your knickers in a twist…, is it our fault Newcastle allowed Ba to have a release clause in his contract?!!

On that basis are Sunderland the biggest club in the North East?!!! They’re less likely of late to go down and up and down and up!!!
Barcodes? More like the YoYos!! One good season, then good old Mike the Yid will sell for profit again.

I love how people are obsessed with who is the “biggest club”!!! How can you actually tell who the “biggest club” is?!? What is it actually based on?!? It’s all objective and whatever suits people to show their club is bigger! In truth the only 2 really big clubs in England are Man U and Liverpool, the 2 clubs with the most success both at home and abroad and I am a Spurs fan! Spurs look like actually challenging for things the next few years and that, to be frank, is all I care about!!! Don’t live in the past, enjoy the present and just love your club however “big” they are!!!
