As we enter the final days of the January transfer window, the gossip if finally hotting up. Today sees the Daily Mirror link Chelsea with a late move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

The report claims that Andre Villas-Boas had two scouts watch the youngster put in an impressive performance during Man Utd reserves 6-0 win over Newcastle reserves on Thursday night and are now lining up a £3m offer.

With only six months remaining on his current contract, Pogba’s future at Old Trafford is in serious doubt with the 19-year-old refusing to sign a new deal.

The Mirror say that Sir Alex Ferguson is so unhappy at Pogba’s decision to reject their offer and that he has refused to play the Frenchman in the first team despite his sides injury concerns in the middle of the park.

Now it seems Chelsea are hoping they can persuade the midfielder his future lies in London despite interest from Italy. Should the Blues manage to secure his signature, it would represent something of a coup for Villas-Boas, as Pogba is a highly-rated youngster within the United ranks.
