[Video Highlights] Sunderland 1-2 Arsenal: Thierry Henry Hits Injury Time Winner

By on February 11, 2012

Thierry Henry signed off his Premier League career by hitting an injury time winner as Arsenal came from 1-down to beat Sunderland 2-1 at the Stadium of Light.

The first hour was a boring, dull affair but the game came to life when Sunderland took the lead in fortunate circumstances. Per Mertesacker was in control of the ball at the back but twisted his ankle and collapsed to the floor in pain. Sunderland’s McClean pounced on the ball and ran clear to fire home past Szczesny to put the home side 1-0 up. Mertesacker was stretchered off and is now a major doubt for Wednesday’s Champions League tie with AC Milan.

However, Arsenal came storming back and it was Arsene Wenger’s substitutes that made the difference. Aaron Ramsey fired home from the edge of the area only minutes after coming on to make it 1-1, before the scene was set for Gunners legend Thierry Henry. Andrey Arshavin put in a superb cross in the 92nd minute for Henry to score the winner and send the away fans into raptures. Watch the goals here:

The headline ‘Henry wins if for Arsenal’ just never seems to get old. Brilliant servant to the club.
