West Brom vs Chelsea: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score

Chelsea take on West Brom this Saturday with the Blues looking to regain their place in the top four. Here is team news, likely line-ups and predicted score.

Chelsea take on Roy Hodgson’s West Brom this Saturday with the Blues looking to regain their place in the top four.

Andre Villas-Boas currently finds his side fifth, behind fourth-placed Arsenal on goals scored, but with the Gunners facing a tough trip to Anfield in the early kick off, this could represent a good opportunity for Chelsea to move back within the Champions League places.

History tells us that Chelsea should win this one, having won the previous 11 meetings between the two teams and are unbeaten in the last 20 encounters.

However, West Brom are no push-overs and come into the game in decent form having won their last two Premier League games, including an impressive 4-0 demolition of Sunderland.

Team News

Hodgson could be without the services of Jerome Thomas, who picked up a hamstring strain last week. Paul Scharner and Chris Brunt are both closing in making first team returns but Scharner may only find himself among the substitutes.

Daniel Sturridge is a doubt for Chelsea after suffering a toe injury in England’s 3-2 defeat to Holland on Wednesday, while Didier Drogba is also a worry after missing Ivory Coast’s mid week game with a knee injury, but both are likely to feature.

Andre Villas-Boas will certainly be without skipper John Terry and Jose Bosingwa.

Predicted Score

Chelsea’s woes this season are well documented and this could be another difficult weekend for the Londoners. West Brom are a well organised and stubborn side who will make life difficult for the Blues, but i can see Chelsea just sneaking this one. West Brom 1-2 Chelsea.

Proof again – if ever it was needed – that football writers know nothing about football outside of the top six clubs. Olsson at left back and Ridgewell in the middle? it’s the other way round you numpties. God only knows what you’d make of a Championship line-up!

This tactic looks sensible to me. Chelsea will win with style again!
