Roberto Di Matteo got off to a solid start as Chelsea boss with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Birmingham City in their FA Cup reply tonight.

Second half goals from Juan Mata and Raul Meireles saw the Blues past the Championship side to reach the quarter finals of the cup, and give the club a much-needed boost following the departure of Andre Villas-Boas.

Chelski through after a tough Birmingham game. I thought the Brummies did themselves proud and should push on from what has been a good FA cup run. What I don’t get is Torres and the media. When he played for LFC he was LAMBASTED by the press day in day out. He had issues and was poor for the last two years before joining chelski.Now he is at the golden club, Chelski, his performances have taken an even bigger nosedive, yet, there seems to be nothing much said about it by the southern press. Funny that isn’t it??? Thanks for the £50 mill tho, Chelski.

well from a brummie point of view, what with having only 3 first team defenders available and our midfield anchor asked to cover left back, we should of been whooped by a club claiming 5th spot in the prem, as it happens 1 lucky goal and a thumping 2nd means that chelsea will be a long way off any kind of top 5 finish this season, the brummie blues did us proud KRO

Considering we’ve just had a manager change I wasn’t expecting miracles but it was nice to see us keeping trophy hopes alive and even nicer to see our Robbie celebrating with the squad. Only onwards and upwards from here.

@andy, no probs but we wouldn’t have been so nice had we known you were going to spend it all on such crap!
