Sunderland vs Liverpool: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score

Kenny Dalglish

Liverpool travel north to face Sunderland on Saturday looking to keep alive their fading hopes of a top four finish this season.

The Merseysiders now find themselves 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal after the Gunners ran out 2-1 winners at Anfield last weekend, although Liverpool do have a game in hand on their rivals.

If Kenny Dalglish’s men have any desires to be playing Champions League football next season, a win is a must at the Stadium of Light this weekend.

Team News

Sunderland have suspension problems for the game after both Stephane Sessegnon and Lee Cattermole were dismissed during last weekends draw with Newcastle at St. James Park, with Sessegnon handed a three-game ban and Cattermole facing a four-game ban.

David Vaughan and Frazier Campbell are likely to come in to replace the duo, while John O’Shea is available despite injuring his wrist last week.

Wayne Bridge could come in to replace Kieran Richardson, who is struggling with a calf injury.

Kenny Dalglish has been boosted by the return of captain Steven Gerrard and defender Glen Johnson after the pair missed last weeks defeat to Arsenal.

Daniel Agger is still out with a rib injury, so Jamie Carragher should continue alongside Martin Skrtel at the centre of defence. Andy Carroll should support Luis Suarez up top.

Predicted Score

Martin O’Neill’s men have started to stutter in recent weeks after making a superb start to life under the Irishman. Liverpool will be desperate to make up for last weeks disappointing result against Arsenal, although Kenny Dalglish will be happy with the performance that day as the Reds dominated for much of the match.

But the Stadium of Light is not an easy place to go and Liverpool will find it difficult to claim the three points. Sunderland 1-1 Liverpool

I love Kenny but he is just the problem of Liverpool. I do not see any team in the EPL that can stand this selection, but unfortunately he will never play them. He prefers to parade the players he bought: Heinderson,Downing etc. He will surely leave to regret it

Kenny is the number one fan for liverpool. He’s playing the players he bought because they should play. Go Kenny, we need the FA CUP.
