Arsenal vs Newcastle: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score

Arsenal get back to Premier League action tonight and entertain Newcastle at the Emirates. Here’s team news, likely line-ups and predicted score for the game.

Arsenal get back to Premier League action tonight after their (almost) heroic comeback in the Champions League last Tuesday.

Newcastle will come to the Emirates with Arsene Wenger looking to make it four league wins on the bounce following impressive victories over Blackburn, Tottenham and Liverpool.

Those wins have left us sitting in fourth spot on goals scored from Chelsea, who have played a game more, and now only four points off third-placed Spurs. So a win here will see us close the gap to just a single point and the race for third will be on!

Robin van Persie will looking to build upon his amazing form this season, and the Dutchman has scored 21 goals in his last 20 games at the Emirates.

Team News

Arsenal may have Andre Santos back in the squad for the first time in four months, after the Brazilian retuned to training after breaking his ankle.

Mikel Arteta returns after missing the win over AC Milan with concussion, and Aaron Ramsey is also available again after missing the last three games with an ankle knock. Yossi Benayoun should also be back in contention after recovering from a virus.

However, Abou Diaby pulled his hamstring last week so joins Jack Wilshere, Per Mertesacker and Francis Coquelin on the sidelines.

Newcastle will definitely be without Peter Lovenkrands after the striker was ruled out for the season with a thigh injury. Lovenkrands joins Leon Best, Sammy Ameobi, Steven Taylor and Sylvain Marveaux on the sidelines.

However, Shola Ameobi is back in contention after recovering from illness.

Predicted Score

Arsenal are back in form and hitting their stride at the right time of the season. It’s vital we don’t slip up here and maintain our push for third with a win. Beating Newcastle will not only move us clear of Chelsea and close the gap on Tottenham, but it also all but end the Geordies chances of an unlikely top-four finish. I think we’ll have too much for them. Arsenal 3-1 Newcastle.

On paper Arsenal should win but you never know.I believe Newcastle will play anti soccer to frustrate the gunners and hit on the break.I hope the gunners have found a way to outplay teams that flood the midfield. This tactic was used by Chelsea and the red faced to beat the gunners time and again.
Hopefully Wenger will adapt and not try to weave thru a ten men wall.
This is a golden opportunity to close the gap on Spurs. If all the players are focussed they can beat the magpies.
Oh I forgot about the ref.a legitimate goal by the gunners is disallowed. There are other scenarios. WBA had a penalty appeal turned down.So you never know.
I tell you what. If the red faced wins the title again,I am going to cancel my tv subscription .England will soon be like Scotland, holland and Spain. If any true blloded gooner fans compiles the stats,it will show a bias for the red faced.

This sure will be a high quality game with free flowing attacks and full of excitement. On paper Arsenal having a fit and fighting back 4 and players like Rosicky and Arteta finding long lost form should be the winners at 90mins but you never know. Arsenal have never been the greatest team on Mondays and Newcastle have spent all season proving EVERYONE wrong.

the key battles on the pitch will be
-Gutierrez vs Sanga, Sanga is now in my veiw one of the best RB in the world, so solid and at 29yo has bundles of exp. Gutierrez is one of Newcastle main attack builders with the the majority of the time going through him.
-OX and Wallcot vs Simpson and Santon, this is going to be very interesting Simpson and Santon are very attacking fullbacks but will have to exercise there defensive qualities against two of the fastest dribblers in football.
-Van Persie vs Ba/Cisse, 3 true strikers, if they get given a chance, 8 out of 10 times they will take it so what ever team gets the supply to these players will get the goals.

Overall this game will be decided on
    -the performance of Arsenals AM
-wether any of Arsenals defenders get injured
    -Arsenals wing usage
-the Counter attacking speed of Newcastle
-and who gets the strikers on the ball in the oppositions box.
at home this game is in Arsenals hands at home but you never know…

Playing Newcastle is rarely an easy game and though I would love us to win by many goals, I will be happy for 3 points regardless of the score line…Putting them and Liverpool out of sight for fourth place and closing in on the Spuds for third place is our priority. This is a crucial game for us to win.
