Evening Gooners. Arsenal target Lukas Podolski has given a strong hint that he would like to sign for Lazio this summer in order to link up with former team mate Miroslav Klose.

All the talk in recent weeks has suggested that Podolski’s move to Arsenal was a ‘done-deal’, with reports claiming a £10.9m deal had been agreed with Cologne and the player had even completed a medical (source: Daily Star).

However, today the striker is quoted by the Metro (originally from Italian source Corriere Dello Sport) as hinting he is interested in moving to Serie A club Lazio in order to link up with former Bayern Munich team mate Miroslav Klose.

Klose moved to Lazio in the summer and has scored 12 goals in 25 games so far this season, and 26-year-old Podolski has said he would love to link up with him again, but insisted his future is still undecided.

“It would be great to play alongside him again, Miro has spoken well of Lazio and he’s happy in Rome.

“My future has yet to be decided.” – Podolski told Corriere dello Sport

So it seems the transfer of Podolski to Arsenal is anything but a ‘done-deal’. No doubt several clubs will be interested in him this summer, so we better brace ourselves for a transfer battle.

It’s only the media that have said it’s a ‘done deal’. Neither club has issued a statement to confirm his signing, nor has the player himself or his agent confirmed that a deal is in place. I’m sure all there is to being a reporter is making up some random story, bandying it about between yourselves & then when it’s shown to be untrue make up yet more nonsense to cover the fact you were lying in the first place. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

He’s looking at his options but it doesn’t mean that Arsenal aren’t his preference. What would you expect him to say when asked whether he’d like to play alongside his international teammate ? He wants to move to a bigger club. It’s the same as a manager saying that he likes a player. Managers have a number of players that they’re scouting for a particular position but they’ll have their favourites and a fee that they’re willing to pay. If the players’ club want more than the manager is willing to pay he’ll move onto the next target. Players think the same way, they have their favourite club but if that club don’t want them or won’t pay them enough they’ll go somewhere else.

Forget Lukas Podolski, get the pulsating Davy Klaassen,he will be immense. As recommended by the great Bergkamp.
