Arsene Wenger Want’s New Deals Quickly
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stressed he wants to tie players like captain Robin van Persie and winger Theo Walcott down to new contracts as soon as possible
Evening Gooners. Arsene Wenger has stressed today that he would love nothing more than to tie Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott down to new contracts as soon as possible, but insists they will have to wait until the end of the season to commence negotiations.
As we know, a number of players will enter the final year of their contract at the end of the season, including the likes of Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott. The duo, particularly captain van Persie, have been integral to the Gunners fortunes this season and there has been increased speculation over their futures in recent months.
Wenger told Arsenal.com today that he will do his best to try and persuade his players to commit to the club, but understands that they want success and where we end up this season could influence whether they sign on or not.
“[We will try to arrange new contracts] very early,” he said. “Yes I am [confident that these players will commit]. To say that I am always confident, yes I am. Of course we want to keep our best players.
“These players want to win things and they want to be in a team that has a chance. Our end of season will help that to help me convince them that they can [here]. It depends now how well we finish.
“Newspapers open talks now. They should inform me how much they offer and for how long because I would like to know!” Wenger told Arsenal.com
So basically, lets finish third, sign a couple of world class players and show RVP and the boys we mean business next season, and they will stay!
