Target - Vertonghen

Arsenal and Tottenham target Jan Vertonghen has again spoken of a potential summer move, but insists he won’t let speculation distract him from winning the title this season.

According to the Daily Mirror, North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham will join Newcastle in bidding for the Ajax defender this summer.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from the Dutch giants after refusing to sign an extension to his current contract, which expires in just over a years time, and a move to the Premier League has been mooted.

However, while the Belgian international has once again claimed he is open to a transfer and revealed he has offers in the pipeline, he has stressed he’s only thinking about winning the title this season:

“Everybody knows that I’m open to a transfer, but you shouldn’t want to leave at all costs,” he told Algemeen Dagblad .

“I have a few things lined up at the moment, but it’s difficult to say anything about that at the moment. I’ll see what happens, if something becomes concrete.

“I’m focusing on putting in good performances and winning the league title for now,”

Vertonghen said in the Mirror newspaper.

can u honestly see vertonghen leavin ajax (champions league guaranteed) for newcastle or spurs?

Arsenal need another left sided centre back they only have 2 vermaelen and miquel yet have koscielny, mertesacker djourou, squillaci, bartley, boateng, angha and hayden who are all right footed. when he joins hazard will also come.

The question is who should we buy Vertonghen. yes, his the right age, his a complete player, good on the ball, skillfull, can run with the ball, and can score goals, can play in central defence, left back, and as a holding midfielder. so he would strenghten arsenal team. M’Villa no, his too expensive, not skilfull, dont score goals nd his not a good passer of the ball, his only strength is tackle. He would weaken arsenal team.
