M'Vila - talks stalled

Arsenal are lining up a £10m bid for Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue after their move for long-term target Yann M’Vila stalled amid interest from Man City.

Arsene Wenger has been tracking M’Vila for some time now and has been in talks with Rennes about signing the defensive midfielder. However, the Daily Mail claim that the Gunners move for the 21-year-old could be in serious doubt after talks between the two clubs stalled and Man City confirmed their interest in taking him to the Etihad this simmer.

This has forced Wenger to look into possible alternatives and Capoue is thought to be the Frenchman’s first choice ‘Plan B’ should he fail to land M’Vila.

Capoue, 23, is highly regarded in France and Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are also said to be keeping tabs on the 6ft 2 inch defensive midfielder, while Barcelona have been linked with a move in the past. The Mail believe Capoue could cost around £10m, which is about half what Rennes are demanding for M’Vila.
