With the summer transfer window now open, we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news. Today, Alvaro Pereira is linked with a move to Chelsea.
The agent of Alvaro Pereira has hinted the Porto left back could move to Chelsea this summer, according to Goal.com.
The report claims that the Blues tried to land the highly-rated Uruguayan international last summer, but their efforts were shunned by Porto who were holding out for the full value of the players buy-out clause, which is believed to be €30 million.
Pereira joined the Portuguese champions in 2009 and has gone on to make 71 appearances for the club. His current contract runs until 2016 but he’s made it clear he would consider a move to one of Europe’s elite clubs this summer and Goal.com suggest Chelsea are ready to renew their interest.
The players agent, Flavio Perchmen, is quoted as saying that the European champions are a “great club” who are among the top 10 in Europe, and his client would consider an offer should one be forthcoming.
“Chelsea are the European champions. They are a great club for any player, not just Alvaro Pereira. They are a top 10 club in Europe.
“If there is a good offer, we will study it. We want the best solution for his career. We are open to offers, but it has to be from a club of the same level of Porto or better.
“We will see what happens. What he wants is to play.”
