Liverpool Line Up £15m Bid For Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool are lining up a £15m bid for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, with new Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers keen to replace Dirk Kuyt with the Blues attacker

The summer transfer window is open and Football Talk will bring you all the latest transfer news. Today, Liverpool are linked with a move for a Chelsea attacker.

Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool are lining up a £15m bid for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, according to the Daily Star.

The report claims that new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has identified the attacker as a key signing this summer and is prepared to pay £15m for the 22-year-old.

Rodgers needs to replace Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt, who left the club for Fenerbache last week, and the Anfield boss see’s Sturridge as the man for the job.

The Blues attacker had an excellent start to the 2011/12 season and was widely being tipped for a place in the England squad for Euro 2012.

However, his form faded badly in the second half of the season and despite being a regular under former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas, Sturridge soon found himself on the bench when Roberto Di Matteo took charge.

FT Verdict

Not totally convinced by this one. Liverpool have been linked with Sturridge in the past but there is very little substance to the Daily Star’s story.

That’s not t say there may not be genuine interest from Liverpool, but the Daily Star don’t know much about it if there is.

 don’t think getting †ђξ Chelsea player Ȋ̝̊̅§ ideal for that amount rather τ̅☺ get Adam Johnson of ManCity or Aly cissokho of France we need players like, Adam Johnson can play both wings with †ђξ indebt ability Α̲̅πϑ enthusiasm τ̅☺ play Α̲̅πϑ score goals from
range crosses than Daniel sturdrige. YNWA

I hope that Sturridge stays at Chelsea and is used as the 2nd main CF behind Torres in selection. With all the games we’ll have (and questions over Torres form), he’ll get plenty of pitch time and can play his preferred and clearly more suited position (see Bolton loan) at CF. With more supply from Hazard, probably Hulk, Mata and Marin, he’ll show by January if he’s the real deal for that role which I think he can be.

I could not agree with you more…let Dan finally get some playing time as a striker. Last year at the start of the season we had no creativity on our squad besides mata so we had to use him out wide as a winger. This year we should have solved that this season w hazard, marin, and probably hulk. Lets put sturridge as number 2. People complain that he his to selfish but need to understand that he is still very young and was playing in a position he had never played before and he still was 2nd on our squad w goals. I don’t why Chelsea would wanna get rid of a talent like that

I’d defo have him at Anfield. He may well become a fixture in the England side, he’s also exactly what we need and that’s someone who can finish

Please Liverpool should try to avoid pointing player and fail to buy like Arsenal,I will like Rodgers to take action, he mentioned Everton Midfielder, Dempsy, from fulham, Adams Johnson & now Sturridge, please let action speaks louder.

Thats too much money IMO. He’s good, but I feel we should look abroad. Nothing is more pleasing to the eye than getting players abroad and watching them flourish in the EPL.
Would also rather have Adam Johnson than him. He’s really underrated if I must say

He is a 9z footballer,he can hold on 2 d ball but he is inexperienced & 2 selfish.if d coach can bring out d best in him & make him beta, dere’s no problem wid dat although d amount we r planning 2 purchase him in my perspective is 2 expensive,we can get beta wingers in smaller clubs @ dat amt.we don’t need names nw bt talents.
