[Teams] England vs Sweden: Carroll Comes In For Dropped Oxlade-Chamberlain

As expected, Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has replaced Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for England’s Group D second round tie with Sweden tonight.

As expected, Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has replaced Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for England’s Group D second round tie with Sweden tonight.

Carroll will make his competitive debut for his country and has been drafted in by Roy Hodgson for his aerial threat due to Sweden’s apparent weakness in the air, with both of Ukraine’s goals coming from Shevchenko headers during their 2-1 win on Monday.

Chamberlain may feel a little unfortunate to be making way having put in an assured display against France on Monday, but the youngster will be a threat from the bench should he be called upon.

Ashley Young moves over to left wing as England go for a more traditional 4-4-2 formation. Here are the confirmed teams:

England Team

Hart, Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Cole, Milner, Gerrard, Parker, Young, Carroll, Welbeck.

Sweden Team

Isaksson, Granqvist, Mellberg, Olsson, Olsson, Svensson, Kallstrom, Larsson Ibrahimovic, Elm, Elmander
