Adrian Lopez has ruled out leaving Atletico Madrid this summer, amid reported interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.

The 24-year-old announced himself on the world stage after winning the Golden Boot as Spain won the under-21 European championships last summer. This form has seen the striker, more commonly known as ‘Adrian’, earn a breakthrough to the senior team, scoring 1 goal in his 2 caps so far and he’s also part of Spain’s Olympic squad for London 2012.

According to TeamTalk, north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in signing him this summer. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is drawing up a list of possible replacements for want-away striker Robin van Persie, while Spurs coach Andre Villas-Boas is thought to be keen on strengthening his strike-force this summer.

However, the duo may have to look elsewhere after Adrian ruled out leaving Madrid and revealed his agent is in fact in talks with the club over renewing his contract. When quizzed about reported interest in him, Adrian said:

“I’m very happy at Atletico and, as far as I know, the only negotiations that are open with the club are regarding my contract renewal. I don’t know anything more about any other offers,”

“I have a contract with Atleti and I’ve got three more years here. Now I only want to think about the national team and it isn’t the moment to talk about rumours and things that come out in the papers.”

Adrian was quoted as saying by Team Talk

The Spaniard only moved to Madrid from Deportivo La Coruna last summer but enjoyed an impressive first season with the club, scoring 18 goals and helped guide them to a Europa League title.
