Manchester City have made a £13m bid for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger, according to the Mirror.

The report claims the Premier League champions submitted the offer last week, but the Reds immediately rejected the bid out-of-hand insisting the defender wasn’t for sale.

However, it seems that City’s interest has done enough to unsettle Agger, with the Mirror reporting that the 27-year-old has now told boss Brendan Rodgers he wants out of Anfield this summer.

Liverpool now face a huge task in trying to keep hold of the Danish international, with Real Madrid and Barcelona both set to rival Man City for his signature.

Despite committing his future to the club eariler in the summer, the Mirror suggest Agger will tell Rodgers in the next two weeks whether he would prefer a move to La Liga or City, but Roberto Mancini is ready to increase his offer and is confident he can persuade the centre back to move to the Etihad Stadium.

In order to make room for Agger, Mancini is set to sell Kolo Toure with Bursaspor and Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal both keen on the Ivory Coast international.

Agger to go? We have at least 3 spare Centre halves. Coates, Kelly and Wilson. If Agger wants to leave no [point keeping an unsettled man]. Aqualani back to Italy. Good news because here again we have a surplus in mid field. However I was hoping others would also be on the move by now. JS,Hendo, and CA whose tackle on Bale was bad with NO apology. Mr Rogers if you keep Carroll play him on a more regular basis than did KK. Also get a decent winger who can cross the ball like StevieG in order to use ACs strengths. JMc

£13M?! F off City! No chance. LFC really in my opinion need to restructure the midfield and forward positions – spearing/adam/aqualani/downing/cole aren’t good enough for us to progress in the league. We need cover for Lucas, or indeed someone who can fulfil his vital role if he takes a long time to come back to form – which is very likely. We need midfielders with skill, technical proficiency, determination and a high work rate to really make this possession football work properly. The people in charge know this I’m sure… is carroll our main striker, or not? If he plays central, suarez and borini are playing the left and right of him? Pretty good on paper, but i hope carroll can pull it off and borini is as good as rodgers says.
High priorities are midfield and another striker/wingforward. Lesser priorities are
Competition for enrique at left back.
    back up goalkeeper.

When you media twats fail to unsettle Carroll, you turn to other key members of the squad. I don’t know how much you are paid to make Liverpool fail, but you seem determined.
