Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has told Juventus he will not be joining them this summer and his first choice is now Manchester United, according to talkSPORT.

Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri told talkSPORT exclusively on Thursday evening that van Persie’s representatives have called Juve officials to inform them of his decision out of courtosey after weeks of negotiations with the Italians.

It was claimed that the Dutchman had initially told Juve he was keen on a move to Turin after being shown around the clubs facilities last month. However, the main stumbling block over any deal has always been money, with the Serie A champions unable to match the fee or wages Man Utd and Man City are able to offer.

Palmeri claims that van Persie has now ruled out a move to Juventus after telling them his preferred destination is now Old Trafford, and while a deal is yet to be agreed with the deposed Premier League champions, talks are already underway with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.

After what is undoubtably the transfer-saga of the summer, van Persie looks like he’s edging towards a move to United. Juventus look like they are out the running and Roberto Mancini claimed he didn’t think the striker would join City, leaving United as clear favourites to land the 30-goal hitman.

If RVP’s manager wants a reported 4Mil Quid to get the deal over the line, then he should start earning his “ill gotten gain” by blowing in Wenger’s ear instead of doing bugger all for it!!!

I would like this to go ahead, with the US stock floatation going pear shape signing on fee and wages for RVP if he turns out like Berbaflop this could be the beginning of the end for the red side of Salford.

Juventus coach banned for 10 months, he surely wont like going there now, In any case moving to a premier league club will make him a “traitor” in the eyes of arsenal fans.

Sorry have I missed something? SAF has talked about Arsenal’s intransigence, RvP hasn’t said a word, Wenger hasn’t said a word, the media have been bleating.

I thought rvp was still under contract for a year and unless arsenal have accepted a bid he would not have been allowed to speak to Milan.
I find it very desperate the way Manu are trying to conduct their transfer business with Shrek now getting involved as well as Taggart totally forgetting the stance he took over Heinze when he wanted to go to Liverpool. Think with the news that with the float on the NYSE valuing Manu at 600 million pounds less than the glaziers expected I don’t believe they will offer enough to buy rvp from Arsenal.

If Manure won’t pay up we should keep RVP at least till January. It will be worth a few million in lost tranfer fee to stick it up the purple nosed jock.

Clearly utd fas haven’t worked it out yet. RvP has a year lft on his contract, if Arsenal let him go, it won’t be because they are thinking of the good fortune he will bring his suitors.

I’m actually really surprised that RVP is considering staying in England. He’s been a stalwart of Arsenal, and although he was always eventually going to move on, I thought it would be Spain.

Juventus would also be quite a quirky move for him, but that doesn’t look likely now.
