Manchester United start off the 2012/13 season with a tough away trip to face Everton at Goodison Park tonight.

Both Man City and Chelsea registered victories over the weekend so the pressure will be on United to keep pace with their rivals, even at this early stage.

Sir Alex Ferguson has decided to start new signing Robin van Persie on the bench with fellow newcomer Shinji Kagawa handed his first competitive start.

Danny Welbeck and Nani support Rooney up top while Valencia slots in at right back alongside Michael Carrick, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra.

Here are the confirmed line-ups:

Everton Team

Howard, Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Hibbert, Fellani, Neville, Pienaar, Osman, Gibson, Jelavic

SUBS: Mucha, Heitinga, Naismith, Gueye, Barkley, Coleman, Anichebe.

Man Utd Team

De Gea; Valencia, Carrick, Vidic, Evra; Cleverley, Kagawa, Scholes; Nani, Welbeck, Rooney

SUBS: Lindegaard, Rafael, Anderson, Berbatov, Young, Van Persie, Wootton
