M’Vila Staying At Rennes?

As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer window, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news. Today, could Yann M’Vila now be staying at Rennes?
Rennes are growing increasingly confident of keeping Yann M’Vila at the club due to Arsenal and Tottenham’s lack of movement for the player.
The France international has been strongly linked with the London duo after making it clear he wanted to leave the Ligue 1 club this summer.
Arsenal were reported to be close to securing a £17.7m deal to take him to the Emirates before this summers European championships, but a deal failed to materialise and Arsene Wenger went cold on the move after the players disciplinary problems at the tournament.
The Telegraph claim that Tottenham have previously had a £12m bid rejected for the defensive midfielder with Rennes said to be holding out for at least £15m.
Rennes manager Frédéric Antonetti insists there has been no recent movement regarding the future of the 22-year-old and the club are growing increasingly confident they can hang on to their star man.
Antonetti acknowledged that while there has been contact over the players availability and anything could still happen, he feels the closer we get to Fridays transfer deadline the more chance he’ll still be a Rennes player come the weekend.
“We have had some contact but nothing more than that. The more time goes on the more we can think he will stay.”
“Now, as I have been saying for some time, we know Yann could still go in the final week of the transfer window.”
Arsenal are on the look out for a defensive midfielder following the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona and M’Vila is understood to still be high on manager Arsene Wenger’s priority list, while Andre Villas-Boas is also in the market for a new midfielder following the sale of Luka Modric.
Will the north London duo go head-to-head for M’Vila in the final few days of the transfer window? Or will they turn to alternative targets, leaving the player stuck at Rennes?
Time is running out, so if they are planning on making a move for him, they better hurry up about it!
