Tottenham Chief Scout Spotted At Friendly Keeping An Eye On…..

wigan defender figueroa

Written by Football Talk.

A Sky Sports News correspondent spotted Tottenham’s chief scout at the DW Stadium this evening watching Wigan take on Real Zaragoza. It’s believed he is keeping an eye on Wigan full-back Maynor Figueroa, although Charles N’Zogbia may also be on the radar.

With Gareth Bale continuing to impress on the left side of midfield, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp may be on the look-out for a new left-back after the indifferent form of Benoît Assou-Ekotto towards the end of last season. Figueroa produced some fine performances for Wigan and has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, but Tottenham may be ready to swoop should he impress tonight.

Another possible target could be Charles N’Zogbia. Redknapp may see Gareth Bale’s best long-term  position as left-back and after missing out on Joe Cole, Spurs could do a lot worse than look to N’Zogbia if they want a left sided player with premiership experience. The attacking midfielder will have left an impression on the Spurs scout after scoring the equalizer just before half-time.

Neither Figueroa nor N’Zogbia came out for the second half, at which point the Tottenham scout headed for the exit. It seems he had no reason to stick around any longer.

Who do you think the Tottenham scout is reporting on? N’Zogbia or Figueroa? Please leave your opinions below….

I think it would be N’Zogbia. I still think ‘Arry believes Bale can become one of the best left backs in the world. The modern way is for fullbacks that have speed, can cross and score goals. Bale can do all of this and he has a massive engine. ‘Arry might be interested in both and it wouldn’t surprise me if N’Zogbia signs, has the makings of a Kranjcar deal to me. ‘Arry can spot a diamond in the rough

Not really a kranjcar deal when Dave Whelan is refusing to let him leave for less that 15 million

Some feedback: Why didn’t you name the “chief scout” in your article. It would would make it more creditable. I read it and dismissed the whole article (therefore the whole site) because of it, which made me leave your site straight away without looking at any advisertising or other articles.

I don’t know him personally or know his name. The source is Sky Sports News, so take it or leave it.

But thanks for the feedback, i have added the source to the article now.

Am I missing something? We seem to be well covered in the goalkeeper and left back department compared to right back, central midfield and most importantly strikers. What is going on? Surely a right back of the calibre of BAE or Bale and a striker in the Lineker, Klinsmann, Sheringham mould must be a priority.

Figeroa is a decent left-back, healthy competition for BAE.

‘Healthy competition’ isnt the kind of SQUAD improvement we need to push on now.

Fig and Zog are ‘solid’ premiership players, but this shouldnt be the standard of players we are looking for to try and consonlidate our chance of staying in the top 4/5.

Carlos Diogo of Zaragoza also came off at half time – Uruguayan capped 23 times (Harry has mentioned watching them and being interested in their players) who can play right back or right mid and was at Real Madrid for a few years. Not saying he was being watched, but its as plausible as an over-priced Zogbia or Figueroa

“Indifferent form of BAE towards the end of the season”
Did you go to any Spurs games?

We re NOT well covered in the LB area.
Both fullbacks are suspect defensively and while Bale is far better on the LW, AE is still a risk at LB even on his good days. We need desperately a STRONG defensive LB who can restrain any good RW as we will be meeting quite a few in Europe.

As forN’Zogbia: we nned CMF strength NOT LM

Todd did it make you leave the sight straight away? Via registering and then posting a comment on it. Benny did have a much improved season but agree with antionan is still weak defensively and Figueroa is a decent enough left back. Though I can’t see us making that major striker/cm signing were all craving for. If we are to Beleave that keano is already gone this all has shades of two seasons ago with not leaving enough time to replace berba!
