Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Tottenham may miss out on Joao Moutinho and are once again linked with a move for Miralem Pjanic.

Spurs to miss out on Moutinho?

Tottenham could be set to miss out on long-term target Joao Mountinho after PSG jumped to the head of the queue for the Porto playmaker, according to the Daily Mail.

Boss Andre Villas-Boas came close to signing the 26-year-old in the summer but a £22m deal collapsed on transfer deadline day due to disagreements over wages as well as administrative errors.

AVB had hoped to resurrect the move in January but the Mail claim Moutinho has had a change of heart over a move to White Hart Lane and now wants a club that can offer Champions League football.

Mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain are now considered as favourites to sign the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder and the French side have already opened talks with the players representatives over a move to Ligue 1.

AVB turns to Pjanic?

Moutinho may not be on his way to North London but one man who could be is Miralem Pjanic, with talkSPORT reporting that Tottenham are set to reignite their interest in the Roma playmaker.

Spurs enquired about signing the 22-year-old in the summer as a replacement for Luka Modric but Roma refused to do business at the time.

However, the Italians are now understood to be willing to offload the former Lyon man and with Villas-Boas still keen to add another creative player to his ranks, Tottenham are eyeing a cut-price £15m  deal.

Pjanic has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular at Roma this season and has made only two starts so far in Serie A. This has lead to speculation over his future and the Bosnia and Herzegovina international is believed to be open to a move to the Premier League.

I saw Miralem Pjanic play for Serbia against Wales in Llanelli earlier this year, he was excellent. A very busy player, always looking to collect the ball in central midfield, he retained possession for his team, he was superb.
