Huntelaar Interest Intensifying

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Chelsea and Liverpool face competition for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Chelsea and Liverpool could face stiff competition from AC Milan for the signature of Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, according to talkSPORT.

The Dutch hitman is in the final year of his contract with the German outfit and has so far been unable to agree terms over a new deal.

Talks between the club and the player’s representatives have been postponed until late November at the earliest and the 29-year-old will be able to talk with foreign clubs in January over a free transfer summer move.

Premier League duo Chelsea and Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to make their move when the transfer window re-opens, but they could face competition from Serie A giants AC Milan with Huntelaar also being linked with a return to the San Siro.

Chelsea are looking at alternatives in case they can’t land number one target Ramadel Falcao and Liverpool are keen to add to their attacking options after becoming overly reliant on Luis Suarez for goals this season.

Schalke are desperate to tie the prolific striker down to a long-term deal but may be forced into selling their star man in January if fresh terms aren’t agreed or they risk losing him for nothing in the summer.

Huntelaar moved to Schalke in 2010 and has continued his goal-scoring form with 40 goals in just 62 games.  There is no doubt Huntelaar would be an excellent signing for either Chelsea or Liverpool and to pick him up on a free would represent a shrewd piece of business.
