Denmark coach Morten Olsen confirmed Poulsen was allowed to miss this weeks international in order to complete his move to Liverpool.

Morten Olsen told the Daily Mail: ‘I was happy to release Christian because this is a very important move for him and for us.

‘We can benefit as a national team because he will be playing at a high level and he’ll be happy playing for a manager who rates him highly. That should help bring the best out of him.’
