Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has joined Charlton Athletic on loan until January 1st 2013, has confirmed this morning.

The 20-year-old has seen his Arsenal career blighted by injury and only recent returned from a second cruciate knee ligament injury that kept him on the sidelines for seven months.

Frimpong recovered well and has made two first team appearances this season, both in the Capital One Cup, but has now been given the chance to go out on loan to get some first team football under his belt.

The promising midfielder looked close to breaking into Arsene Wenger’s first team last year as he featured 14 times in the early part of the season before joining Wolves on loan to further his development. However, his season was ended by injury in February and it’s been a long road to recovery for the youngster.

But he will now move across London to Charlton and spend the next few weeks playing in the Championship before returning to Arsenal in the New Year.

Frimpong has been with the Gunners since he was nine years old and has come through the Academy system, so i hope he comes back and is given a real chance to push for a first team place. His passion is unrivaled and he just needs to learn the game a bit more. We wish Emmanuel the best of luck with his time at the Valley.
