[Video Goals] Sunderland 1-3 Chelsea: Torres Bags Double For Blues

By on December 8, 2012

Rafa Benitez recorded his first league win as Chelsea boss with a 3-1 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.

Fernando Torres gave the visitors the lead early on, firing home a Hazard cross after 10 minutes. The Spaniard then made it 2-0 from the spot after Larsson had fouled Ramires in the box, and Torres scored his first penalty-kick in English football. The ‘in-form’ striker then went close to bagging a hat-trick but saw his powerful left-foot strike come off the post only for Mata to be on hand to slot home for 3-0 just after the break.

The hosts pulled one back through Adam Johnson, with Petr Cech at fault, but Chelsea held on for a 3-1 win and closed the gap on second-placed Man City to four points. Watch highlights and the goals from the game here:
