Arsenal are believed to be in talks with Sevilla over the transfer of defender Sebastien Squillaci, according to French source Canal+. Young Guns also picked up on the story and suggest that should the transfer go through, Havard Nordveit will be made available for loan.

Squillaci was left out of the Sevilla squad for last night’s Champions League tie with Sporting Braga, adding fuel to the fire that Arsenal are set to sign the Frenchman.

Don’t know about you, but i can believe this one. We all know Arsene Wenger loves nothing more than to sign a French player! The report doesn’t state how much the proposed deal is worth, but it’s safe to say Arsene wont be breaking the bank.

I’m not sure whether Young Guns are correct in saying Nordveit will be loaned out if the deal goes through, but i would be disappointed to see it happen. He has looked decent in pre-season and can offer us cover at centre-back, right-back and defensive midfield. I hope Arsene keeps hold of him and gives him a run out in the cups as well.

I hope this is all false. Nordtveit deserves premier league appearances, and why bother with Squillaci?
If it’s to bring an international French, Mr AW, please do us a favour: bring in Mexes and Frey.

I begin to wonder why Wenger is turning our beloved club to a french niche, where are the finest Argentine, Brazilian and Italian breeds? what’s wrong here at the Emirates? let’s even agree the africans are not too good, which is not m opinion, where is the diversity in our premier league?
