Liverpool Transfer News: Spaniard Denies Talk Of Anfield Move

Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes insists he’s yet to make any decision over his future and dismissed reports linking him with a move to Liverpool as speculation.

With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Victor Valdes denies links with Liverpool.

Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes insists he’s yet to make any decision over his future and dismissed reports linking him with a move to Liverpool as pure speculation, according to talkSPORT.

The report claims that Valdes’ current contract is set to expire in 2014 and talks have broken down over a new deal, leading to speculation he may be on the way out of the Nou Camp and about to end his 20 year affiliation with the Catalan giants.

talkSPORT suggest that the Spanish stopper has been linked with a move to Anfield with Barca understood to be planning for life without the 31-year-old and have lined-up Manchester United’s David De Gea as a possible replacement.

However, Valdes has taken to Twitter to dismiss the rumours of a move to Liverpool and claims he’s yet to make a decision over his future. He said:

“Hi everyone, I want to declare that I haven’t said anything regarding my future yet – I will do when the time comes.

“Everything that has been said in this respect are speculations.”

Valdes said to his official Twitter account

The rumour linking Valdes with a move to Liverpool was a strange one for me and was always highly unlikely. Pepe Reina has been with the Merseysides for seven years and has established himself as their No.1, so unless Brendan Rodgers is planning on selling the former Villarreal man I don’t see where Valdes would fit in anyway.

But if Reina was to leave, and Valdes doesn’t sign a new deal with Barcelona, then yeah it could be that Rodgers swaps one Spanish keeper for another at Anfield, but I think that’s a long way off at this point.
