[VOTE NOW] Have you lost confidence in Arsene Wenger?

Arsenal boss arsene wenger

Written by Fab4.

Arsene Wenger failed to sign a goalkeeper this summer despite calls from fans and pundits alike. Everyone called for a new GK at the Emirates and it seems we were close to capturing Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer. But Wenger will have to chose between Almunia and Fabianski this season, who both made costly errors last term.

How do Arsenal fans feel about this? Have you finally lost patience with Arsene Wenger? Are Gooners fed up with broken promises by club management? Or is it no big deal and are you confident that Arsene Wenger knows what he’s doing? Please vote below…

not at at all……remember that even money City with its money last season failed to qualify for champions leuge…..why?because money is not good management.he has made Arsenal the best team compared to rivals…we only need trophies from him…failure for the goal keeper doesnt mean failure to win.

anyone who has not yet lost faith in wenger must be only the board members of the club.
Just check this, when you have lost V.Persie who to us is our main striker as seen as last season during his absence,u have no Bentner who stood in for V.P $ was injured too last season the cause that almost left us out of champions league had M.C and Liverpool performed.u only have chamack who is not yet established in the PL,then u start thinking of walcot bse of his form yet u had time atleast 2 get anyone on loan assuming u have no money, say Tuncay of stoke or any cheap buy.
on the side of our defense, look at blackburn, peoplple a silent just bse we got 3 points and have not seen our weakness, why could wenger go 4 Faye the stoke captain,be it 2 or 1 year the man is what we need, koseiny couldn’t handle Diouf what of Rooney,Drogba and others who are 9 times better, don’t think of siquallaq,he even couldn’t replace Gallas who was injured during world cup.
Then lastly, goalkeeping,u have Akineef of Russia, why don’t u give them Fabiasky or almunia and add mo money or in the French no 1 of Lyon

You should have two surveys, one for real fans and one for fly by nighters. Real fans trust the best manager in the league and appreciate how he has influenced football in the Premiership. If Wenger trusts Almunia then it is good enough for me.

whole world and his dog have known for at least 3 years that there wasnt a capable, never mind world class goalkeeper at arsenal, yet we still remain the only big side that hasnt got a decent keeper… its beyond a fuckin joke… either wenger doesnt know what he’s doing, or gazidis and wenger between them are awful at transfer dealings and need someone else to handle them… either way it dont look too fuckin pretty does it… and before any starts, no i dont think it should’ve been scharwzer we were after anyway, but thats all we seem to be interested in these days, players who are bargain basement or past it, or let’s face it, come without a transfer fee
stubborn old fool, is not the way i would put it, but when we start loosing points due to the incompentence between the sticks, then wenger needs to take a long hard look at himself and he needs to be honest and say can he take us any further, because i dont think so…
in the mean time though we need to get behind al and try and delay the inevitable for aslong as possible

If your voting that you’ve lost faith in Wenger, regardless of the results of this poll, you are in the MINORITY and you always will be. Who would you like to replace Wenger?

  9. rob

    September 1, 2010 at 10:57 am

by virtue of the fact he went after Schwarzer, he knows he has a problem between the sticks…he’s not stupid, he knows he has a problem….what is annoying is he will spend £10K on a “wtf is he” defender but won’t spend a reasonable sum on a GK. Why must everyone he buys be bargain basement price or freebees….bloody pointless to keep saying he has money to spend if we all know he has no intention of spending it.

As opposed to you glory hunters who have never been thru the shite years of winning nothing but think that they have a god given right to manage the teams from their keyboards at home and then cuss the most succesfull manager in arsenals history cause these so called foolio’s no better than the most successful manager in arsenal history.

      What idiots

    • Slugboy

      September 1, 2010 at 1:29 pm

A definition of madness is being in a minority, but thinking that what you do or say is what the majority think. The vote says 52.5% still love Wenger and only 37% have lost confidence. When will the detractors either get behind the team or Fuck off? Really sick of the wankers shitstirring and trying to get arsenal to get rid of their best manager ever.

Yeh totally lost confidence in him, i wish wed had another manager who could spend 300m and finish outside top 4 and have us go bankrupt and not build a new stadium, like liverpool leeds pompey etc etc, sack wenger !!

Rob – You probably consider the defensive signings to be “wtf is he” because the only CB outside the Premier League you’ve heard of is Lucio right?

Why keep bringing up this unneccessary debate about Arsene Wenger? He has done , and continues to do so much for Arsenal , only fools would debate this issue

I cannot believe there is any such thing as an AKB now.
Surely the evidence before them is undeniable.
If we had a reliable goalkeeper last season and another centre back that wasn’t Silvestre, we would have been champions. If you go to the Emirates as I do and talk to sensible fans there, they all say the same.
So with 5 months to sort the obvious problem, he is panicking as the transfer window is about to close, to buy a no more than adequate (although miles better than Almunia) 37 year old keeper. Schwarzer could possibly be an Arsenal player now, but Wenger was haggling over about £1m which is petty cash in today’s football world.
Does this all sound like a man with ambition. With a bit of luck we may just finish 4th again

The AKB are mainly those who forever support from their armchairs & afar whilst investing not a penny. No one has asked for a ‘Citeh’ style spending spree but simply to strengthen positions where internally the answer is not there. The 2 Keeper clowns have cost Arsenal points & potential silverware too often & a Keeper should have been brought in well before yesterday. At the very least a Keeper should have been installed prior to the Emirates Cup to enable an early chance to strike up understanding with the defence & settle into the surroundings. As soon as Hughes became Fulham manager Arsenal should have abandoned pursuit of Schwarzer as it was obvious Hughes would not co-operate. I would rather we had stayed at Highbury if we had to put up this constant frugality. At the very least all incoming transfer fees received should be invested in incoming players.
Wenger cannot justify such frugality & himself take a 20% pay rise.
The club are rewarding him for financial reasons not football reasons.
Even the best Keepers make a mistake like as someone earlier mentioned Reina did BUT they are rareities & not numerous & himself & others do not look like constant accidents waiting to happen like our 2 clowns do, particularly Fabianski.
It does Fabregas a huge disservice to get him to stay & then not ensure we are as secure as possible behind him.
In this instance I’m afraid to say that stubborness does not come into it, Wenger has plainly been negligent not to have signed a decent experienced Keeper this window.

Check out our history and remind us all when we have spent exessively to gain short term success – even before wenger the club hardly spent money and had a strict wage structure – the club has never been the biggest spenders or highest payers in north london – Spuds are!

If you feel so strongly march outside the stadium, threathen the board, beat up wenger – but just have a day off on the blogs cause its getting really irritating and boring now – and you sound at best spoilt and worst like bitches!!

Having seen the standard of goalkeeping this year Almunia had been in the top 10 of premiership keepers. he has made a better start than all but a few. He was first class at Blackburn at the week-end.

I have very little patience with armchair “experts”, who have never so much as managed a kids team, criticizing premiersip managers.

I haven’t seen any goalkeper available that was a such a sure fire upgrade on Almunia that it was worth the asking price. Its time for fans to prove that they are good at what they are supposed to do, which is support the team, and leave the managing to those qualified to manage.

It may turn out that not replacing Almunia is the best “signing” of the season. If it is, and Arsenal win this year, will the posters calling Wenger an idiot please never post anything about the team again…ever.

Ok, firstly….thanks for all your comments.

For those of you who questions a) this website or b) my love for Arsenal simply because i post a very simple poll is crazy.

This is not my site nor an Arsenal blog, so take your criticism elsewhere. I am also a very passionate Arsenal fan, hence me writing almost daily posts about the team i follow…how many of you critics spend the time doing that?

Also, i haven’t claimed Arsene should be sacked or that i myself have lost faith in him, i simply asked the question. And it seems it was a question worth asking as only around 50% of people say they are still backing the boss.

Well I’ve been an Arsenal fan for over 20 years and I still believe we should have bought a keeper. Only an idiot would disagree and Arsenal are not going to achieve what they were meant to achieve this year. You all live in cloud 9 if you think this was not a BIG mistake. Arsene even did the most uncharacteristic thing and attempt to sign another keeper in the last hour of the transfer window, desperation?

    • Fab4

      September 1, 2010 at 10:50 pm

      Exactly Matt,

Take a look at some of the ‘go support City’ comments i received when i wrote this article yesterday about Arsenal. It’s amazing how some fans just stick their heads in the sand and feel they have to back Wenger no matter what.

Simple fact is he identified the weakness we all know about but failed to do the business. The usual reason behind it…unwilling to put his hand in his pocket.

Everything will be clear come may2011. This time around Arsene will have no excuse if the trophy cabinet is not replenished and must bear the responsibility for failure. Being in the champions league and finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th in Premeir League is not acceptable for a club like Arsenal. Yes he has done well but it is not good enough. End of the day trophy is what matters to fans , the club and the sponsors. Please get it right Mr. Arsene. You have taken a great risk by not doing anything about the goalies, although it seems that money is not a concern anymore. Deep disappointed about your careless attitude over the goalies. You had all the time in the world and you cannot find a suitable goalie? Speak the truth Mr. Arsene, what seems to be the real issue here?
