Arsenal & Liverpool On Alert As France Striker Tipped For Summer Move

By on March 9, 2013

Despite the transfer window now being closed there will still be plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Kevin Gameiro.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been alerted to the news that Paris Saint-Germain striker Kevin Gameiro is set to leave the club at the end of the season, according to talkSPORT.

Gamerio made his name while at Lorient when he scored 50 goals in 108 league games during a three years spell between 2008-2011 and that form earned him a move to PSG. But after a promising start his time in Paris hasn’t quite gone to plan and he now sees himself on the sidelines following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi last summer.

talkSPORT claim Liverpool tried to sign the 25-year-old on loan in January but a deal failed to materialise and the French international was forced to see out the remainder of the season in Ligue 1.

However, the report suggests Gamerio is now set to move on in the summer with Liverpool tipped to renew their interest but the Merseysiders could face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal with Arsene Wenger also understood to be keeping tabs on the strikers situation.

Liverpool signed Daniel Sturridge in January to share the load with Luis Suarez up front but Brendan Rodgers could still do with another option in attack, while the Gunners also look a little light up front with Wenger having few alternatives to Olivier Giroud, so it would be no surprise to see either club make a move for another striker in the summer.
