Sanchez Backed To Make Arsenal Move As Gunners Enter Race For Barca Attacker
Arsenal have entered the race for unsettled Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez with the players former club claiming a switch to the Emirates would be an ideal move
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal enter the race for Alexis Sanchez.
Arsenal have entered the race for out-of-favour Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez with the players former club claiming a switch to the Emirates would be an ideal move for him, according to the Daily Mail.
The Chilean international enjoyed an excellent debut season in La Liga following his big-money move from Udinese in 2011, scoring 12 goals in 25 league appearances. However, he’s struggled to continue that form this season, scoring just 2 league goals so far this campaign, and has dropped down the pecking order in recent months leading to question marks over his future at the Nou Camp.
The Mail claim Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will look to overhaul his under-performing squad this summer and has identified Sanchez as a potential signing, but the north Londoners will face stiff competition from the likes of Liverpool, Inter Milan and Juventus who are also showing an interest in the 24-year-old, while long-term admirers Manchester United are also thought to be monitoring his situation closely.
However, the player has been backed for a move to the Emirates with his former sporting director at Udinese Fabrizio Larini claiming Arsenal would be the ideal fit for Sanchez’s style of play.
‘Sanchez needs to play the ball on the ground, just like Arsenal. That would be his ideal game.
‘I do not know his current situation at the Spanish club. But his fitness problems have definitely limited his performances.
‘The only thing that these teams will have to consider is that he is a player who needs freedom to play his way. In teams that have particularly rigid patterns of play he might have a few problems.’ Fabrizio is quoted as saying by the Mail
If indeed Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for Sanchez this summer, it’s no surprise to hear he’ll have no shortage of offers. He was outstanding at Udinese before moving to Spain and while he’s had a mixed time in La Liga, his talent is unquestioned and all he needs is to get 100% fit and get a run of games.
I’d love to see what he could do in the Premier League, so if he does leave Barca this summer lets hope he chooses a switch to England over a return to Italy.
