Liverpool & Tottenham Face Competition To Land Highly-Rated Playmaker
Liverpool and Tottenham will face stiff competition from Italian giants Inter Milan for the signature of Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen, according to reports
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool and Tottenham face competition for Christian Eriksen.
Liverpool and Tottenham will face stiff competition from Italian giants Inter Milan for the signature of Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen this summer, according to the Express.
Eriksen has been with Ajax his entire professional career and has become of the Europe’s most highly-rated youngsters after breaking into the first team in January 2010. The Danish international has gone on to make 150 appearances for the Dutch outfit and has contributed 27 goals and 48 assists during his career so far.
It seems his impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed in England with the Express claiming Liverpool and Tottenham are the front runners for his signature with the 21-year-old’s future in serious doubt after he refused to sign a new contract – with his current deal due to expire in 2014.
However, the Premier League duo look likely to face stiff competition for his services with the report claiming Italian outfit Inter Milan have also joined the race to sign Eriksen and are said to be keen to lure him to Serie A this summer.
The player recently admitted that he didn’t know where he would be playing next season and said there was a 50% chance he’d be on the move at the end of the season:
“I can not say what will happen in the summer,”
“I started to prepare for the new season with Ajax, but I don not know if I will continue with them.
“There is a 50 per cent chance I stay.” Eriksen is quoted as saying by the Express
If Eriksen refuses to sign a new deal soon, Ajax are going to have to decide whether to allow him to run down the final year of his contract and leave for nothing 12 months later or cash in this summer with the Express suggesting they’ll listen to offers in the region of £10m.
