Arsenal & Man Utd Battling For €25m French Ace
Arsenal will face stiff competition from rivals Manchester United for the signing of French centre-back Adil Rami, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United are set to rival Arsenal for Adil Rami.
Arsenal will face stiff competition from Manchester United for the signing of €25m-rated French centre-back Adil Rami, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
Rami is currently impressing at the heart of Valencia’s defence in Spain and it seems his performances have caught the eye of some of the managers here in the Premier League.
The report claims that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been monitoring the 27-year-old for some time and is weighing-up a summer move, however the Gunners will now face stiff competition from league leaders Manchester United with Sir Alex Ferguson also understood to be keen on luring him to Old Trafford.
The France international was recently quoted by the Express as saying that he won’t be signing for Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala this summer but did hint he could be tempted by a move to England:
“I’m not going to Anzhi Makhachkala, even though I had a good proposition from this team,”
“I have not had my last word on the France team and I will consider this factor when choosing my future. England? Maybe. I need to be at a big club in Europe.”
Rami has been one of the most consistent defenders in La Liga this season so it’s no wonder clubs like Arsenal and United are said to be interested. However, the duo will need to dig deep if they want to land the powerful stopper as A Bola claim his buy-out clause is set at €25m (£19.5m) and Valencia are under no pressure to sell as his contract still has two years to run.
