Arsenal breath a huge sigh of relief

By Minal Vachheta

Kieran Gibbs was taken out off in extra time during Tuesday night’s Carling Cup fixture with Tottenham, it was feared that he had broken his metatarsal for the second time this year. Gibbs 20 fractured his metatarsal in the same foot last season which resulted in him missing most of the second half of the season as well as being ruled out of the World Cup.

Luckily this time the scans showed no fractures on his left foot.  A statement on Arsenal.com read:

Kieran has suffered severe bruising to his left foot and will hopefully only be missing from first-team action for the short term.

There is severe bruising but it should not keep him out of action for too long. Arsenal fans will be breathing a sigh of relief with this news as the injury list seems to be growing at the club with Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Robin Van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner, Aaron Ramsey and Abou Diaby all on the sick bench.

This will be another cause for celebration after the Gunners beat their North London rivals 4-1 and knocked them out of the Carling Cup.
