Liverpool are in the capital to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon looking to end the season on a high note.
The Reds have endured another inconsistent season and go into the game sitting seventh in the Premier League table after last weeks 0-0 draw at home to Everton. Brendan Rodgers side remained five points adrift of their Mersey rivals so will be looking to collect maximum points from their remaining two fixtures and hope the Toffees come unstuck in order to snatch sixth spot and with it Europa League qualification.
Fulham have ended the season poorly and are still not mathematically safe despite sitting in 12th spot on 40 points. A run of six games without a win has seen Martin Jol’s side drop down the table and with 19th placed Wigan on 35 points with two to play, the Cottagers will hope to collect all three points in their final home game to ensure their top flight status for another year.
Fulham are sweating over the fitness of Mladen Petric and Simon Davies, and Jol will give them every opportunity to prove their fitness before naming his starting eleven. Petric is struggling with a hip problem while Davies has a hamstring strain.
Midfielder Steve Sidwell completes his three-game ban after being sent off against Arsenal, and Mahamadou Diarra and Ashkan Dejagah remain on the sidelines through injury.
Liverpool will also have to make do without star duo Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez for the game. Captain Gerrard will miss the final two games of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery while striker Suarez continues to serve his 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic.
Defender Daniel Agger has also been ruled out for the rest of the season with a back complaint so Martin Skrtel is in-line to step in. Jonjo Shelvey is expected to replace Gerrard in midfield while Fabio Borini is also pushing for a start after impressing in recent weeks.
