Tottenham Hotspur did their bit by beating Sunderland 1-0 at White Hart Lane but Gareth Bale’s stunning winner wasn’t enough to see them secure a top four finish.

Sunderland battled valiantly but eventually fell to a stunning 25-yard strike from Gareth Bale in the 89th minute. However, the win wasn’t enough as north London rivals Arsenal beat Newcastle 1-0 at St James Park to clinch that all-important final Champions League spot as Spurs expense.
