Blues eye Turan
First up and the Daily Mail are claiming Chelsea are showing an interest in Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan and are offering a superior package to Turkish outfit Galatasaray.
Turan has enjoyed another excellent season in Spain with his 6 goals and 4 assists helping Atletico finish third in La Liga and qualify for next seasons Champions League. His form appears to have attracted interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray and their president, Unai Aysal, claims Europa League champions Chelsea are also in for the 26-year-old and are prepared to beat what they are prepared to pay, but he suggests the Blues may have a tough time persuading Madrid to sell.
‘Chelsea are involved with Arda and we won’t be able to match what they are offering.
‘I met with the head of Atletico Madrid, he told me that there were three players the club definitely do not want to sell, one of them being Arda Turan.’ Aysal is quoted as saying by the Mail
Jose steps up Coentrao interest
Next up and the Express are reporting that soon-to-be Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for Portuguese left-back Fabio Coentrao with the defender expected to leave Real Madrid this summer.
Mourinho is set to take over at Stamford Bridge when he leaves his post as Madrid boss next month and the Express claim he will try and take several player with him to west London, including Coentrao who’s seen as a long-term successor to Ashley Cole.
The newspaper suggests Madrid have set an asking price of £15.4m for the 25-year-old – who drew criticism from some sections of the Bernabeu faithful during his 31 appearances last season – and Chelsea are likely to test the water as soon as Mourinho is officially announced as Rafa Benitez’ replacement.
