Barcelona Eye Ambitious €20m Swap Deal Involving Chelsea’s Juan Mata
Barcelona are lining-up an ambitious move that would see the Catalans pay €20m plus Alexis Sanchez for Chelsea’s Juan Mata this summer, according to reports.
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Barcelona are lining-up a move for Chelsea’s Juan Mata.
Some interesting news coming out of Spain today with El Economista reporting that Barcelona are lining-up an ambitious move that would see the Catalans pay €20m plus Alexis Sanchez for Chelsea’s Juan Mata this summer.
Mata has just enjoyed another excellent season for the Blues, scoring 20 goals and providing an astonishing 35 assists in his 64 appearances to help lift the Europa League and secure third place in the Premiership.
However, it seems the 25-year-old’s impressive form has alerted Barcelona and Spanish outlet El Economista are claiming the La Liga champions are prepared to pay €20m (£17m) and throw in winger Alexis Sanchez as a make-weight to land the creative attacker.
Sanchez endured a difficult campaign at the Nou Camp last season and has been tipped for a move this summer as Barcelona look to re-shape their squad following a disappointing Champions League exit to Bayern Munich.
The Chilean is certainly a talent and we haven’t seen the best of him in Spain but it’s difficult to see Chelsea being tempted by this deal if the La Liga champions do come knocking.
Mata has become central to their attacking play, is under contract and the Blues are under no pressure to sell one of their best players, so unless the player himself comes out and pushes for a move, I don’t see Chelsea contemplating this deal if Barca do come calling.
