Bale Would Consider Real Madrid Move, Claims Agent

The agent of Gareth Bale has claimed he would be honoured by interest from Real Madrid and would listen to any offer they made, according to Sky Sports News

With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Gareth Bale’s agent talks up a move to Real Madrid.

The agent of Gareth Bale has claimed the star would be honoured by interest from Real Madrid and would listen to any offer they made if they come calling, according to Sky Sports News.

Bale has just come off the back of a sensational season with Spurs that saw him net 19 league goals and pick up a whole host of individual awards including the PFA Player of the Year.

However, despite Bale’s brilliance Tottenham narrowly missed out on a top-four finish and the 23-year-old has subsequently been strongly linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.

The Welshman’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, appeared on the Futboleros show on MarcaTV on Tuesday night and admitted his client would be honoured if Madrid were interested and claims the winger would listen to what the Spanish giants had to say if they came calling this summer:

“If Florentino [Perez, Real president] is interested in Gareth Bale, then that would be an honour and we would listen, but his contract is with Tottenham,”

“But we are not free to talk to anyone.” Barnett is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

Barnett also dismissed reports suggesting that Bale was close to signing a new long-term contract with Spurs and insists he has no idea if any club has made an offer for his client. He continued:

“No, we have not talked to anybody,” he said when asked a about a possible new deal.

“I do not know if there has already been an offer. What I know is that the player has three years left on his contract.”

Madrid’s interest in Bale appears to have heightened after they missed out on the signing of Neymar to Barcelona, but Barnett feels his client is far superior to the Brazilian sensation and would cost a lot more than whatever Barca paid Santos for the youngster.

“He is a much better player than Neymar, he has proven himself in one of the best leagues in the world, the Premier League,” he said.

“And I would hope any club wanting him, would not want him because they lost out on Neymar but because he was first choice.

“This is all crazy, but whatever Neymar cost – Gareth Bale is worth more.” Barnett is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

To many this looks like Bale’s agent is trying to encourage Madrid to make their move, while some may argue he’s simply stating the facts and doing his job, but the fact he was on MarcaTV discussing Bale’s future doesn’t bode well for Spurs.

It’s no surprise Bale is attracting interest after the season he’s just had but I think it’s going to be very difficult for the north Londoners to hang on to him, especially if Madrid table and offer to good for chairman Daniel Levy to refuse.
