The Mirror have revealed what they believe to be Brendan Rodgers 9-man hit-list this summer as the Liverpool boss tries to build a squad capable of challenging for the top four.

The Merseysiders finished a disappointing seventh last season but Rodgers is believed to be keen to strengthen his squad this summer and is confident he can push for Champions League qualification if the right players are signed in the coming weeks.

The Northern Irishman has already signed forward Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo for a fee in the region of £7m and the Mirror claim he’s also closing in on the £5m signing of Sevilla winger Luis Alberto and the £20m capture of Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan – who scored 25 goals last season.

Experienced defender Kolo Toure is due to join on a free transfer next month and the report also suggests Liverpool are interested in highly-rated Greece centre-back Kyriakos Papadopoulos who’s valued at around £12m while a deal for Sporting Lisbon youngster Thiago Llori is understood to be close.

Further reports today are linking striker Luis Suarez with a move away from Liverpool and should the Uruguyan leave Anfield the Mirror suggests Rodgers will make a move for Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke while Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema is also believed to be on his radar.

The final position that the newspaper claims Rodgers will strengthen is between the sticks with Simon Mignolet expected to arrive in a £7m deal but if new Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio blocks the move Michel Vorm has been lined up as a potential alternative.

That’s quite a list! Toure and Aspas is a good start but if Rodgers could bring in Papadopoulos and Mkhitaryan and also manage to keep hold of Suarez then Liverpool will have a squad capable of challenging for the top four next season, no doubt about it.

To be sincere, If LFC can afford this players then suarez has to go. All thesame, no point expecting much, b/c some of this players will still need sometime to adapt in league, so i will advice we keep calm and see what the future holds for us. LIVERPOOL 4REVER

Brendan is building a competitive squad. Even in 2009 when Torres, Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano was our core. Liverpool never had any competition for places other than at cente back (Hyypia, Agger, Carrager and Skrtel).
    Goalies: Reina, Jones & Mignolet.
Defenders: Johnson, Kelly, Toure, Papadopolous, Ilori, Aderweireld, Agger, Enrique.
Midfielders: Gerrard, Lucas, Allen, Henderson, Mkhitaryan, Coutinho, Sterling, Alberto.
Strikers: Suarez (or Benteke), Aspas, Borini and Sturridge.

I suspect that Flannagan, Robinson, Wisdom, Shelvey, Ibe and Suso will be loaned out to gain first team experience.
And that Assaidi, Carroll, Spearing, Skrtel, Downing & Gulasci will be sold for additional funds.

I’d be more than happy with that squad of players.
    My line-up would be.
Reina, Johnson, Alderweireld, Agger, Enrique, Gerrard, Lucas, Coutinho, Mkhitaryan, Suarez and Sturridge.

    Win the EPL! Top 4
    To all LFC
Every year you are “defo gonna win the league la”
What a complete joke of a club.
Perhaps you wud be able to bring youngsters in if beloved Benitez had not desecrated your youth system.
Considering LFC are financially broke and not in Europe… Hmmm reckon Suarez is a done deal?
Suppose if he goes it will because of the bad image he is causing your mighty club… perhaps he should of been sold ages ago, one thinks. Top 4 in your dreams.
