Anzhi Star Claims Arsenal Interest
Odil Ahmedov claims that Arsenal are interested in signing him and believes he’d be a huge success at the Emirates Stadium if he was to make the move from Anzhi
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Odil Ahmedov claims Arsenal are interested in signing him.
Odil Ahmedov claims that Arsenal are interested in signing him and believes he would be a huge success at the Emirates Stadium if he was to make the move from Anzhi Makhachkala this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
The 25-year-old has become a key fixture in the Anzhi starting eleven since joining the Russian outfit from Pakhtakor Tashkent in 2011 and has scored 2 goals in his 60 appearances so far.
Ahmedov has claimed that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch him in every single match so far this season and he believes he could be a huge success in England if he was to make the move to north London, but insists nothing official is on the table just yet.
“It is true I have interest from Arsenal – their scouts have watched me in every match this season,”
“If I move there, I could be a huge success but there is no bid yet.
“Of course, I am happy at Anzhi, but I’d like to try England or Spain.” Ahmedov is quoted as saying by the Standard
The Standard claim the Uzbekistan international is also being tracked by Italian pair Genoa and Juventus, and is believed to be valued at around £6m by his current club.
A tough-tackling defensive midfielder is desperately needed at Arsenal this summer and Ahmedov certainly fits the bill but I’m not convinced he’s the best option out there. He’d be a decent buy but I think Arsene Wenger should be aiming a little higher this summer.
