Paulinho Confirms Agent Talks As Spurs Eye Another Brazilian Ace
Tottenham target Paulinho has confirmed his agent is in London discussing a potential move while Spurs are also keen on highly-rated Brazilian defender Doria.
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham eye defender Doria as Paulinho confirms agent talks.
Tottenham Hotspur target Paulinho has confirmed his agent is in England discussing a potential move to the Premier League while Spurs are also keen on highly-rated Brazilian defender Doria, according to the Mirror.
The report claims the north Londoners want to sign Corinthians midfielder Paulinho this summer with the agent of the impressive midfielder, who scored the equaliser against England earlier this month, understood to be in London holding talks over a potential move.
Paulinho has now dropped the biggest hint yet that he’s set for a move to White Hart Lane after confirming his agent is in England to discuss a potential move to the Premier League, but refused to confirm that Spurs were the club in question. When asked about his agent being in London, the 24-year-old said:
“It’s true my agent is in England at the moment, but I don’t know anything else,” Paulinho is quoted as saying by the Mirror.
Paulinho could be joined by fellow Brazilian Doria in north London with the Mirror claiming that boss Andre Villas-Boas is also showing a keen interest in signing the Botafogo defender this summer, but it appears as though Spurs may have to pay a hefty sum to land the talented stopper.
Doria is highly-rated in his homeland and has recently broken into the senior Brazilian national team, making his debut aged just 18. The report suggests a third party consortium are on the verge of buying his rights for around £9m and they then plan on selling the defender to Porto or Benfica in order to put him in the ‘shop window’ to earn a big money move to one of Europe’s top clubs in a few years time.
The newspaper also claims that Botafogo will retain a percentage of the players economic rights and will insist on a sell-on clause, so Tottenham have been told they will have to pay a sizable fee if they want to sign the highly-rated centre-back this summer.
