Transfer News: Arsenal Eye French Winger – Liverpool Given Hope In Tevez Pursuit
Latest transfer news. Today, Liverpool are given hope in their pursuit of Man City’s Carlos Tevez while Arsenal are linked with a move for winger Dimitri Payet.
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool are given hope in their pursuit of Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez while Arsenal are linked with a move for French winger Dimitri Payet.
Tevez unsure on future
First up and the Daily Star are reporting that Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is unsure where he’ll be playing next season amid reported interest from Liverpool.
With Luis Suarez edging ever closer to the exit door, it seems as though Brendan Rodgers may have to find a replacement for the controversial Uruguayan ace and the Star claim the Merseysiders have identified City striker Tevez as a suitable candidate.
The 29-year-old had a disappointing campaign last season by his standards and found his self in-and-out the team during key stages of the season. The former Manchester United striker – who has just one year to run on his current City contract – has now given Liverpool hope after admitting he is unsure over where his future lies and is waiting to hear what new boss Manuel Pellegrini has in store for him when he returns from his holidays.
“I really don’t know anything about my future – I have to wait for news,”
“I am on vacations and for the moment I haven’t been told anything.” Tevez is quoted as saying by the Star.
However, the newspaper suggests wages could prove to be the major stumbling block in any potential deal to take him to Anfield with the Argentinean hitman thought to earn £200,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium, and the Reds are likely to face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and Juventus if City do decide to cash in this summer.
Arsenal eye Payet
Next up and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is understood to be eyeing Lille winger Dimitri Payet with the Daily Mail reporting that the Gunners are lining up a move for the French ace this summer.
Payet has just come off the back of an excellent season in Ligue 1 that saw his score 12 times and provide a further 10 assists in 28 games and the report suggests Wenger could turn to the 26-year-old as he looks to add to his attacking options ahead of next season.
The attacker joined Lille from Saint Etienne in 2011 and his impressive form over the past two years has seen him break into the French senior national team, earning 3 caps so far.
