Liverpool are on the verge of a sensational swoop for Henrikh Mkhitaryan with the Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker expected to arrive on Merseyside on Tuesday to undergo a medical ahead of a £23m move, according to the Mirror.

The Armenian international enjoyed a stunning season last campaign that saw him score 25 goals from midfield in the Ukrainian league as well as put in some impressive display’s in the Champions League.

It seems that form has alerted some of Europe’s top clubs with the Mirror claiming that Chelsea, Liverpool, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain have all shown a keen interest in signing the 24-year-old this summer.

However, it appears Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of pulling off a major coup and beating the Champions League clubs the the signing of Mkhitaryan with the report suggesting the player is due to fly in to Merseyside today to have a medical after a £23m deal was agreed with Shakhtar.

The newspaper claims the majority of the deal will be funded by the sale of Andy Carroll with the striker set to travel to London to undergo his own medical on Wednesday with a £15m deal expected to be completed by the end of the week.

This will then enable the Reds to complete the transfer of Mkhitaryan and it looks like Rodgers has decided to make his move early in order to beat off competition from the likes of Chelsea. With Liverpool unable to offer any kind of European football next season, being able to lure a player as sought-after as Mkhitaryan to Anfield shouldn’t be underestimated and his arrival is sure to be warmly welcomed by the Kop faithful.

How can we get more page views? Hmm, I know! We’ll pretend that Chelsea were interested in signing the player! CFC were never linked to Mkhitaryan, but suddenly when LFC are just about to sign him, all of a sudden CFC get mentioned… Convenient, no?

i tink he’s a good signin for Lfc but the amount Liverpool are payin for him is troublesome were-by we cud hav afforded Eriksen for a much more lower feel which we all know is a quality for who ever thats goin to hav him in his squad….but Mkhitaryan’s goals speaks highly of him…And pleas papadopoulos is a must sign for Lfc…..thumb up YNWA!!!
