Transfer News: Chelsea Eye Brazilian Starlet | Arsenal Make Contact Over Reina
Latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea are linked with Verona starlet Jorginho while Arsenal have made contact with Liverpool over goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea are linked with Jorginho while Arsenal have made contact with Liverpool over goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
Chelsea eye Jorginho
First up and the Daily Express are reporting that Chelsea have joined Manchester City in registering their interest in Verona starlet Jorginho.
The newspaper claims the 21-year-old has been tipped for a move this summer after an excellent season in Italy last term and it seems his impressive form has attracted interest from within the Premier League with both Chelsea and City understood to have made contact with the Serie A outfit to confirm their interest in the Brazil-born ace.
Jorginho is a classy central midfielder who’s known for his passing ability and the Express suggest it will take an offer in the region of £6m to persuade Verona into selling the exciting youngster this summer. If either Chelsea or City manage to land him, it’s expected that he would be loaned out to gain further experience before being considered ready to push for a first team place, but a deal is still a long way off.
Arsenal in for Reina
Next and the Evening Standard are reporting today that Arsenal have renewed their interest in Pepe Reina and have asked Liverpool to be kept informed of his availability.
The Gunners have long been linked with Reina and the Spanish stopper once claimed he almost moved to north London back in 2010 only for the Liverpool owners to block the deal at the last minute.
A new goalkeeper has been tipped to arrive at the Emirates Stadium this summer after some questionable performances from No.1 Wojciech Szczesny last season and it appears Arsenal have renewed their interest in Reina with the Standard claiming that Arsene Wenger has made contact with Liverpool and asked to be kept informed of the players situation.
Reina’s position at Anfield has come under threat following the arrival of Simon Mignolet and the newspaper suggests he’ll hold talks with Brendan Rodgers when he returns from the Confederations Cup to see what his bosses plans are for him. You’d think Mignolet hasn’t moved to Anfield to sit on the bench each week, particularly with the World Cup just around the corner, so a move could be on the cards for the 30-year-old and it seems as though Arsenal may be ready to offer him a fresh start in the capital.
