Chelsea Transfer News: Surprise £5m Bid Rejected | Midfielder In Move Talks
Latest Chelsea transfer rumours. Today, the Blues make a £5m bid for Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy and Oriol Romeu is in talks over a return to Spain.
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest Chelsea transfer rumours. Today, the Blues make a £5m bid for John Ruddy and Oriol Romeu is in talks over a return to Spain.
Ruddy bid rejected
First up and the Sun are reporting that Chelsea have had a surprise £5m bid for John Ruddy rejected by Norwich City. The report claims that Jose Mourinho is keen to bring in competition for No.1 Petr Cech after Thiabaut Courtois confirmed he’ll be staying at Atletico Madrid for another season on loan.
Ruddy has been in excellent form for Norwich since signing from Everton in 2010 and he’s since broken into the England senior set up – making his debut against Italy back in August 2012.
It seems he’s done enough to impress Mourinho and the Sun claim the Blues saw their opening £5m offer – which included additional add-ons – rejected out-of-hand with the Cannaries making it clear they would need to double that bid to stand a chance of persuading them to sell the 26-year-old.
Romeu in move talks
Next up and the Mirror are reporting that Chelsea’s Oriol Romeu is in talks with Valencia over a season long loan move back to Spain this summer.
The midfielder saw his campaign cut short last term by a serious knee injury and it’s thought he’s keen to go out on loan to get some first team experience under his belt to help him get back to match fitness as quickly as possible.
The Mirror claim that talks between Romeu’s agent and senior officials at Valencia are well under way and the initial feeling is a deal can be struck, with the youngster seemingly willing to take a pay cut to seal the move. New boss Jose Mourinho is expected to have the final say over whether to sanction the players loan or make it clear he sees him as part of his first team plans next year.
